July 2009: Sea Otter Bill Passes House

1. Past Actions

On July 28, the House of Representatives voted by a 2-1 majority to pass the Sea Otter Research and Recovery Act (HR 556). This bill hopes to secure funding of $5 million per year for five years for much-needed research to better understand the high death rate and slow recovery of the fragile population in California.

Thanks to all our supporters who sent letters or made phone calls to their Representatives. It really made a difference!

Now the bill moves to the Senate; we’ll be sure to let you know when the time is right to ask for support from your Senator.
