Classroom & Learning Resources
Looking for classroom activities to use with your students? Developing a new unit? We encourage you to explore and use both our online materials and our Monterey Bay Aquarium Teacher Resource Center.
The Secret Lives of Seahorses Curriculum NEW
With a head like a horse, a tail like a monkey and a pouch like a kangaroo, a seahorse is anything but ordinary. These materials introduce the world of this fascinating fish, including concepts like habitats, adaptations and life cycles. You may choose to do just one or all three of these Pre-K-5 standards-based classroom activities, which are inspired by our new special exhibition, The Secret Lives of Seahorses.
We offer a variety of educational activities (hands-on, music, printable and/or web based) for educators, families, students and anyone interested in teaching or learning about ocean life. Many of the "at the aquarium" activities can be done online using the content of our website and live web cams.
These themed standards-based teaching units have been developed for our school field trip programs to help you offer an aquarium-centered ocean unit to your students. Many of the "at the aquarium" activities can be done online using the content of our website and live web cams. They are also a great way to enrich and extend a family visit.
Published by the Monterey Bay Aquarium in 1996, this book provides a treasure of activities, from art to science and from math to language arts. You'll explore rocky shores, wetlands, sandy shores, kelp forests, the open sea and the deep sea and enjoy over 90 hands-on activities.
Our educator newsletter Schooling News is available in paperless (PDF) format on our website. It features upcoming events, field trip and classroom activities, conservation action ideas, exhibit news and much more.
